【摘要】练兵活动。刘长佑借鉴勇营制度创建直隶练军，曾国藩续办练军，将勇营制度更彻底地融入练军，使直隶练军编练取得了更大实效。（二）论述李鸿章督直期间改良淮系防军及练军的武器装备，提高陆军综合素质，推进直隶陆军走向近代化。（三）论述直隶陆军变革的历史地位。认为洋务运动时期直隶陆军逐步深入变革，一直走在全国陆军变革的前列，对各省陆军变革起了辐射带动作用，也为甲午战后新式陆军的编练准备了客观条件和提供了经验教训，对清末民初军界、政界产生深远的影响。
